< BACK TO QUILT House of Steele The House of Steele (HoS) was formed in 2021 by Head of House (HoH) Master SteeleToe the Bootblack to connect and train leatherfolk with an interest and natural ability to lead and develop the leather community. At present, the HOS comprises a Protege (Reece Diamond), an alpha boy (boy Ogun), boy SwitchBlade, boy Bakari, boy Forge, and one boy-in-training (boy Vice). Additionally, the HoS is committed to live openly as kinksters with a goal of de-stigmatizing kink/fetish/BDSM/leather, especially for people of color. The Head of House (HoH) SteeleToe took his first kink class in 1998, and in 2014, he found a community where he could learn and grow as a leatherman. His passion for education led him to ONYX NY/Northeast, where he served as President and VP, and received the 2019 Brotherhood Award. He taught classes online via the House of Steele Facebook page, and at national events including Leather Leadership Conference (LLC) (for whom he currently serves on the board as Treasurer), Bootblack RoundUp, Virtual Bootblack Jam, Kink U in Rochester, NY, and various ONYX chapters. He was the 2020-2021 Northeast Bootblack, the 2022 IMBB 1st Runner Up and inaugural winner of the IMBB Brotherhood award. He served as a judge for BBM, the Woods Leather Contest, the NJ Leather Contest, and IMsBB. SteeleToe was covered as a Master on March 23, 2024. The HoS is passionate about education and community service, and offers classes and online chats to increase knowledge of and exposure to kink/fetish/BDSM leather topics and issues. They volunteer at events in their local communities, including the Tri-State area, Western NY, Washington D.C., and Atlanta. Members of the HoS are also members of three Onyx chapters (NY/Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast) and two BLUF chapters. The principles of the House are represented in the adinkra symbols featured on the crest: Dwennimmen: Strength and humility Akoma Ntoso: Linked hearts (family) Eban: Safe space Sankofa: Tradition Nkonsonkonson: Community Nea Ope Se Obedi Hene: Leadership and Service The House motto is “Eke Nipa Ina”, which means “Forged by fire”. Establishing community Service activities/fundraising events to support our communities. < BACK TO QUILT The Sanctuary of a Dark Angel The Sanctuary of a Dark Angel was a private membership dungeon facility located in Atlanta, Georgia with a 4,000 square foot facility with a custom fetish and leather shop, five separate dungeon theme rooms, a lounge and kitchen. It was located at 1417 Dutch Valley Place Northeast. At the time it was one of the premier play spaces in the United States and the epicenter of BDSM, Leather, and fetish lifestyles in the Southeast United States. < BACK TO QUILT Fresno Leather Advocacy Group We are a Leather Family living and promoting Leather Lifestyle in the Fresno and the Central Valley through service, education and transparency. About the Design: Designed by Sir Phillip and Bytesunfish in August 2016. The stripes represent the colors of the three founding Houses. The triskelion, well, because BDSM. The open book was selected by the House of Fury. This implies an open invitation to write Y/your history, make Y/your mark, and to be a better person through self reflection. The scroll was selected by The Enigma to signify O/our passion for education and openness. Education is valued and respected, and W/we strive to facilitate education for others. The pentagram (or pentacle) was selected to represent Casa Del La Strega (The house of the witch). The star represents spirit, earth, air, fire and water, the elements essential for life. Now known as The Science of BDSM Research Team, it is “…led by professor of social psychology, Dr. Brad Sagarin, and composed of academics and community members. Members of the team include graduate and undergraduate students in a variety of fields, professors of psychology, clinical psychologists, and kinky people who are interested in supporting research. The team aspires to produce and disseminate quality research on BDSM (bondage/discipline, dominance/submission, sadism/masochism), and kink related topics. The team seeks to understand the nature, dynamics, motivations, and effects of BDSM activities and relationships. To do so, it is committed to designing and conducting ethical studies, thoughtfully analyzing and interpreting data, and disseminating the results in as objective a manner as possible. The team assumes that many people do BDSM for psychologically healthy reasons, and believes that de-pathologizing BDSM will help the scientific community and the BDSM community.
