Add a Panel to the Quilt Requirements for Submission Rules for adding a square to the Leather Quilt: Any House, Club, Organization, or Entity wanting to add a patch to the Leather Quilt must; 1. Have been in existence for a minimum of 2 years. 2. Have 2 letters of recommendation from community leaders (not directly affiliated with them) who are willing to vouch for their integrity and service within the community. If they are part of a larger organization (MAsT, Onyx, Onyx Pearls, etc) one of the letters of recommendation must come from the parent, or oversight, organization. Any other type of patch (for example a club no longer in existence) will be considered on a case by case basis with a heavy emphasis on service to the community and historical significance. 3. Designs on a quilt square must be sewn on (not glued), or they may be embroidered directly on the leather square. Pins, any form of sharp metal, or other material that may pose a danger of damage to other quilt squares are not permitted. 4. For uniformity leather squares must be purchased from Barking Leather. Please note the above should be considered minimum requirements, also the producer of an event has the ability to limit the number of additions at their event due to time constraints or space limitations. By submitting this form and panel to the Leather Quilt Project you agree to allow the photographs and written content provided to be shared on the Project website and other Project social media. Bring the Quilt to an Event! Request the Leather Quilt Please use this form to request the Leather Quilt for display at your event. This form is just a request - a formal contract with details will be sent to you upon acceptance. Reservations The Leather Quilt is reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. You may reserve The Quilt up to one year in advance, but no more. Events that historically host the Quilt are granted a three week buffer period so no event can change a date to supersede reservation precedent. Shipping & Return You are responsible for shipping fees to and from your event. We ship The Quilt to your event approximately two weeks prior, addressed to the event producer or a recognized onsite caretaker. The Quilt must be shipped back within 3 business days of the conclusion of your event. Responsible Parties There must be a designated legally responsible party (usually the event producer) and an approved onsite caretaker for The Quilt. The onsite caretaker must be trained/approved by the Curator and coordinates setup, take-down, repackaging, and onsite safety; and management of all volunteers to set up the quilt. This is roughly 8 hours of volunteer time, please consider compensating the onsite coordinator. Display & Frame Requirements The event is responsible for providing a frame that displays The Quilt safely. As The Quilt has grown, we've encountered accessibility and safety concerns, so at minimum: Heavy-duty pipe and drape frames with 2" uprights, 1.5" crossbars, and 18"x18" bases weighing approximately 35–60 lbs Crossbars extended no more than 8 feet (at 10 feet, even the best crossbar will sag under the weight) Folding tripod bases are not acceptable Displays no taller than 9 feet, due to tipping risk Common configurations are 32x9ft, 36x8ft, and 42x7ft; displaying each half separately also works well. Contact us for current Quilt dimensions — we're happy to help you plan. Pipe and drape frames can generally be obtained from host hotels or event vendors. Handling & Care This is a historic piece and many patches are irreplaceable — please handle it with care. The Quilt must be accessible to attendees, who should be able to take photos of and with it if they choose. Please plan your display area accordingly. You are permitted to arrange the columns to suit your event, but PLEASE keep square rearranging to a minimum; if it is absolutely necessary to move a square you are expected to put the Quilt back in the order it was shipped to you. The Quilt must never be displayed outside. Adding Squares Many attendees wish to add a new square at an event where The Quilt is displayed. All additions must be pre-approved by the Curator. Allowing approved additions at the event is at the sole discretion of the event producer. If allowed, additions must be supervised by the onsite caretaker so no damage occurs, and complete documentation must be on file before a square is added. Display Options Due to its size, events may request The Quilt in full or in half. On rare occasions, and depending on the travel schedule, we may accommodate requests for smaller vignettes to fit your space and budget. < BACK TO QUILT The House of Kane The House of Kane was founded in 1987 by Master Daniel Kane and his brother Master Steven Kane. The House of Kane has been active ever since, outside of a small break during the late 90s after Daniel and Steven parted ways. Grandmaster Daniel Kane then picked up the mantle as Head of House until his passing in 2014. His slave, Master-slave Sayuri Kane, shortly thereafter, became Head of House until December 2025, where she passed Head of House to Master PB Kane, who is the current Head of House. The House of Kane has always been an educational House focusing on sharing education with others through in person training, teaching at Leather conventions, Zoom calls, and Dungeon Monitoring. They have always believed in, "each one, teach one" and that is one of their mantras for their patched members in the different communities. The House of Kane holds advocacy close to their hearts. It is a core value of theirs that they share with their community as they uplift and empower marginalized voices, community outreach, and creating safe spaces at all their events. They believe every person deserves human rights and to have an equal seat at the table. The House of Kane will stand up to and against any who deny rights to others due to racism, sexism, homophobic, transphobic or any other bigoted ideologies or behaviors. Finally, The House of Kane has had several Leather and other Title Holders over the years. < BACK TO QUILT Bay State Marauders The Bay State Marauders are a fellowship of members, primarily leather/Levi oriented, whose purpose is to develop character and leadership in the spirit of friendship, brotherhood, and goodwill. On February 22, 2003, in the back room of the Boston Ramrod, two of our charter members were having a conversation. The conversation turned to the idea of forming a leather club. Our first meeting with the Marauders took place on March 1st, 2003. At this meeting were the original seven members of the club: Eric R., Joe L., Mike C., Rob C., Scott E., Scrapie, and Shawn C. During 2003, a few more charter members were added later in the year: David L., Jim M., and Paul B. Tom A. From 2003 to 2004, the Bay State Marauders had their bar nights at The Boston Ramrod. In 2005 and 2006, the Marauders alternated bar nights every other month between the Boston Ramrod and The Alley Bar. In 2007, they went back to just having the Boston Ramrod until 2013. The Marauders then moved their bar night to The Boston Eagle and were there until the bar closed in March of 2020. The bar night is now held at Cathedral Station on the fourth Saturday of every month. Club Cocktail: The Marauder Cape Codder is vodka, cranberry juice, and a splash of Chambord. This was the first served at Empire City MC’s 50th Anniversary in Jersey City, New Jersey, on Friday, October 10th, 2014. The day before the club was voted into AMCC.
