< BACK TO QUILT South Plains Leatherfest South Plains Leatherfest was created in 2000 by Mark Frazier. Master Jim and slave marsha coordinated the Master/slave workshops track for Mark in 2000 and then joined him as co-producers and owners after SPLF 2002. Sir Cougar later joined the team and Mark left after he acquired ownership of International LeatherSir/Leatherboy in 2008. Since its inception, South Plains Leatherfest has hosted the International Master slave Contest (IMs) annually. In March 2020, Master Jim, slave marsha and Sir Cougar announced that they would step aside from producing SPLF and the IMs Contest. The process of transition was delayed due to Covid and in 2021, they named Tomo as the new Owner and Producer of SPLF and the IMs Title System. Master Jim, slave marsha and Sir Cougar produced SPLF and the IMs Contest for the last time in March 2022. SPLF thanks Master Jim, slave marsha and Sir Cougar with deepest gratitude for all the work they have generously given to our community for so many years and honor them with the status of SPLF Producer Emeritus with our admiration and respect. More recently, South Plains Leatherfest became the new home of the Internal Person of Leather Contest (IPOL), which is now produced alongside the IMs Contest each year. Founded in 2015 by Jazz, Mr. Andrew Love, and Master Tallon, the goal of the International Person of Leather is to promote and celebrate the diversity of Leather Culture throughout our Community. In 2022, the Founders transferred ownership and production rights of the IPOL contest system to Tomo, naming Tomo as the new Owner. SPLF honors Jazz, Mr. Andrew Love and Master Tallon for their vision for this community, which was brought to life through years of hard work and care. As the Owner and Producer of South Plains Leatherfest, the IMs Title System and the IPOL Title System, Tomo brings many years of work in event production, decades of service as a member of the Leather Community, and the experience as a former IMs Titleholder to the job. With these skills, along with Tomo’s drive and capability, SPLF (along with the IMs & IPOL Title Systems) is in solid hands to thrive as it continues in this new generation. At South Plains we offer a place where all of us in Kink and Leather can gather in community and share connection, skills, social time and celebrate relationships that exchange authority. South Plains Leatherfest welcomes all folx from the Leather, Master slave, Kink, BDSM, Fetish and Authority Exchange communities to come together and embrace the magnificent range of kink that we present. Our goal is to offer something for everyone: from the beginner who recently found our community to the Leather Person with decades of wear on their leathers, to the Master slave pair who shares stories from years of being together, to the queer kinkster who wants to get it going in the play space. We provide a safe space where we can all thrive. < BACK TO QUILT CLC (Chicago Leather Club) Chicago Leather Club (CLC) is a leather club based in Chicago IL. It was formed in 2002 to continue the traditions of Leather United Chicago (LUC). CLC's Mission To represent and promote the Leather/Levi/BDSM/Fetish community and lifestyle with dignity and respect. To establish an organization which shall reflect a cross section of the pansexual Leather/Levi/BDSM/Fetish community, and which will be free from all discrimination against race, religion, sexuality or lifestyle. To facilitate communication and the exchange of information between local clubs and organizations; the local community and communities in other areas; and interested individuals. To increase and create understanding between the members of the Leather/Levi/BDSM/Fetish community. To provide a social and supportive environment for members of the Leather/Levi/BDSM/Fetish community and people with related interests. A place where individuals can meet, talk, exchange ideas and feelings, and socialize without sexual or social pressures. To support community-based charitable organizations through fund-raising and volunteer efforts CLC also conducted outreach via their e-newsletter called Nine-Tales. < BACK TO QUILT BDSM Research Team - Northern Illinois University Now known as The Science of BDSM Research Team, it is “…led by professor of social psychology, Dr. Brad Sagarin, and composed of academics and community members. Members of the team include graduate and undergraduate students in a variety of fields, professors of psychology, clinical psychologists, and kinky people who are interested in supporting research. The team aspires to produce and disseminate quality research on BDSM (bondage/discipline, dominance/submission, sadism/masochism), and kink related topics. The team seeks to understand the nature, dynamics, motivations, and effects of BDSM activities and relationships. To do so, it is committed to designing and conducting ethical studies, thoughtfully analyzing and interpreting data, and disseminating the results in as objective a manner as possible. The team assumes that many people do BDSM for psychologically healthy reasons, and believes that de-pathologizing BDSM will help the scientific community and the BDSM community.
